Dietz & Watson Pretty In Pig School Challenge Winners Whoop it Up with a Weenie Roast!

Congratulations to Munoz-Marin Luis Elementary School, our 2010 Pretty In Pig School Fundraising Challenge Winners!  On June 11, approximately 170 students and faculty celebrated their breast cancer fundraising victory with a Winner's Weenie Roast, complements of Dietz & Watson.

The North Philadelphia school students went all out to fill dozens of our little piggies with change and dollars, raising funds and awareness for the breast cancer movement. The "weenie roast" party was part of the grand-prize package awarded to the school for raising the most funds per capita in the 2010 "Pretty In Pig" campaign.

In a span of approximately six weeks, the school raised over $2,800-a per-student total higher than more than a dozen other schools

from Philadelphia and the suburbs who participated in the contest. The money will be used to advance the mission of the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate to empower people in 13

counties to fight breast cancer.

At the party, students and teachers enjoyed hot dogs and "all the fixings" donated by Dietz & Watson, as well as over 200 pink-frosted cupcakes, donated by Classic Cake to add a sweet symbol of hope to the celebration.  In addition to the fun and food, Sally Rotenberg, Chairperson, Pretty In Pig School Outreach Program, Komen Philadelphia Affiliate Volunteer and breast cancer survivor shared her story with the students and thanked them on behalf of all women for a job well done.

"These students represent the generation that will lead us to a world without breast cancer, said Elaine I. Grobman, Executive Director, Komen Philadelphia Affiliate.  "Even at such a young age, they demonstrate to people of all ages and walks of life that every penny counts when it comes to saving lives. The money they raised as a team represents nearly 30 free mammograms... 30 lives that can be spared from breast cancer and countless more lives that can live on without the pain of losing a loved one to this horrible disease."
