Pink Ribbon of the Month, November: The Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia Hotel

Having just wrapped up the most successful Komen Philadelphia Pink Tie Ball® in the event's eight-year history, we could think of no more worthy recipient of this month's Pink Ribbon award than the extraordinary team at the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia Hotel. From the moment the Pink Tie Ball was just a dream in our eyes, the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia not only embraced the idea, they MADE the event the premier happening of the city's fall social season.

From General Manager Michael Walsh, to customer service teams, and wait staff, over the years, the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia has invested with the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate financially, creatively and with any and every resource we could possibly need to assure eight years of the utmost success to empower the reality of a world without breast cancer. And, they do it in ever-increasing capacities.

All year long the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia demonstrates the grassroots activism that makes Susan G. Komen for the Cure a worldwide leader. Whether we need accommodations for special guests, meeting space for a distinguished group of activists, or one of the city's most notable buildings to be awash in pink to promote breast cancer awareness, the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia never says "no" when it comes to supporting the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate mission.

And of course, we can't forget all they do for the crowning event of our partnership - the Komen Philadelphia Pink Tie Ball. Beyond opening their doors to us for this annual celebration, the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia donates fabulous live and silent auction packages, networks with sister hotels for the donation of other "escape" packages in other cities, reserves both ballrooms as well as annexed rooms for the entire day of the Pink Tie Ball, and donates countless hours of staff time for attending committee meetings, working with our staff, setting up and breaking down.

"What the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia donates to the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate and the Pink Tie Ball simply cannot be measured with a mere dollar value," said Elaine I. Grobman, Executive Director of the Philadelphia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. "The hours, creativity, event planning, consultations, volunteer time, giving up of valuable space that could have been used for an event that would bring the hotel great profit... there is no end to their generosity. The Komen Philadelphia Pink Tie Ball simply would not be the great success it is without them."

The Komen Philadelphia Affiliate congratulates the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia on their exceptional service to our community - as skilled professionals as well as passionate activists - and sincerely thanks them for everything they do for us. In all they do, the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia team continually helps us all to see the vision of a world without breast cancer and BELIEVE in its reality.
