On October 1, the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate and our media sponsor, CBS 3, “flipped the switch” on the 7th annual Lights for the Cure to launch National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  There was much celebration at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel to celebrate the lighting of the Philadelphia skyline in pink shades of hope.  Thanks to this special effort of CBS 3 and generous businesses throughout the city, visitors from all over will have no doubt just how devoted our community is to increasing awareness and ending breast cancer forever.

The annual “Lights for the Cure” campaign is our salute to the thousands of brave women in our region who have survived breast cancer and a reminder to all to stay vigilant in this fight. CBS 3 will again commit considerable airtime to promote this project and will be featuring participating buildings in its newscasts all month during this campaign.  Keep your “eyes on the skies” and remember what these lights represent: awareness, hope, and getting closer to a world without breast cancer every day.

Thanks to all the organizations who supported this campaign… it means so much to the women of the Philadelphia area who have battled this disease.

We especially thank our community partners:
The City of Philadelphia, Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation, The Lighting Practice, Inc., Nina Zucker Associates, Termini Brothers Bakery, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Burlington Coat Factory, Loews Philadelphia Hotel, the Philadelphia Inquirer, The Daily News, phillyonline and Fairmount Park.

… as well as all the “pink” light participants in PA, NJ and DE.
