Dear Elaine and Friends at the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate:
I wanted to thank you for taking the time to speak with me this past Saturday and hear a little of my story. I am sure you and your staff hear a lot of them.
From the first time I began participating in the Mother's Day walk in 2005, I have always been moved, and, frankly, amazed by the event...
... from the dignitaries, to the vendors... every year, something different about it strikes me, and the fact that it is run by such a small group of people is extraordinary.
I am looking forward to participating this year as a volunteer, and hope I can be helpful to you and the event in the future.
I will work on bullding a team here at "Obermayer", where I am a new employee.
I also appreciated your approach in addressing the 'elephant in the room.' There are few organizations that do not have difference of opinions regarding policy. To me the measure is not the fact that there was a mistake made, but what happens after a mistake is made. The Komen Foundation dealt with its issue head on, as you did no Saturday, and I admire you and the organization for it.
Best wishes to you and your staff on a successful event.
Thanks again for taking the time to speak with me.
Best regards,
Tara B. Lauricella, Paralegal
