January Update: Champion Sponsor of the Promise

When you hear the words, 'breast cancer,' probably the furthest thing from your mind is laughter. But, believe it our not, LAUGHTER is very much a component of the way Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) fulfills the Komen Promise to do everything necessary to end breast cancer forever.
Let there be no mistake - when it comes to fighting breast cancer, empowering men and women against the disease and finding the cures, CTCA is as serious as they come, as evidenced by their extraordinary commitment to being the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate's
. But, every day, CTCA takes to heart the truth in the old adage, 'Laughter is the best medicine,' providing patients and caregivers with opportunities to be entertained, to have fun and for a few minutes escape the stress of cancer.
"Studies show improving a patient's quality of life is equally important as the medical science when it comes to outcomes," said John McNeil, President and CEO of Cancer Treatment Centers of America's Eastern Regional Hospital in Philadelphia. "When we do these things, not only are we helping patients enjoy life, we are helping people fight cancer and win."
So, if you're looking for the radiology waiting area at CTCA, try following your ears... chances are you'll be led there by peals of laughter stemming from a spirited game of Pictionary. And if you'll be waiting for a loved one in the clinic area, leave the magazine at home and be prepared to be entertained by a magician or have your likeness captured by one of CTCA's caricature artists.
"Patients and their caregivers go through so much physically and emotionally when they deal with cancer. It's the least we can do to provide fun activities to let them escape for a little while."
Make a Promise with Us
For the month of January, as your Alliance Partner in the Promise CTCA - along with the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate - invites everyone to join us in bringing LAUGHTER to those taking the breast cancer journey. Make a promise to reach out to at least three breast cancer patients or people caring for someone with breast cancer and help them escape through laughter.
Give them a cheerful balloon, share a funny photo or video, tell your favorite joke... do whatever you can to bring a smile to their faces, and then remind them that every smile represents another ray of hope for a future without breast cancer.
