Race Day: Champion Sponsor of the Promise

Anyone who visited the Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) 'Capturing Hope' tent on Race day will tell you, it's not only a must see... it's a must EXPERIENCE. As the Official Celebration Sponsor of our Milestone 20th Anniversary Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure last year, CTCA went above and beyond to live up to their title - making Mother's Day 2010 a true celebration of hope and cures.
'Capturing Hope' was back again for the 2011 Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure... back, in fact, by popular demand! But, this time, CTCA had a new heart and soul invested in the tent experience... as the first and only Champion Sponsor of the Promise of the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate. This means, those who visited the tent experienced a fabulous combination of their favorite features from last year - just more of them - as well as some new surprises.
"Hope is a beautiful thing that can powerfully sweep everyone up in one common directions. But, at the same time hope can mean something different for everyone," said John McNeil, President and CEO of Cancer Treatment Centers of America.
"Some people hope for a treatment that cures cancer forever... a mother may hope her daughter is spared the disease," McNeil continued. "This is what our 'Capturing Hope' tent is all about - allowing all kinds of hope to embrace you, as well as being empowered by the tremendous support that exists at CTCA and throughout the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate family,"

An experience as phenomenal as the CTCA 'Capturing Hope' tent can only occupy the most prime location on Eakins Oval - this way we assure as many people as possible do, indeed, capture the hope and hold it in their hearts throughout the year to encourage their breast cancer missions. So, like last year, for 2011 'Capturing Hope' was located right at the top of Eakins Oval, directly across from the steps of the Art Museum, and directly under the Washington Monument fountain.
Highlights included
Two photos booths: Literally, 'capture the hope,' and share with loved ones around the world.
'Red carpet' opportunity: Be a star as you 'talk to the camera' about why you chose to celebrate Mother's Day at the Race for the Cure.
Magic by Manipulation: part of the Dietz & Watson 'Pretty In Pig' Entertainment Extravaganza, the multi-award-winning magic of the Amazing Peter Pitchford was enchanting. Peter charmed and humored everyone you much in the same way he does at Cancer Treatment Centers of America to help patients and caregivers find laughter and hope along their cancer journeys
"There are so many reasons Cancer Treatment Centers of America is our first and only Champion Sponsor of the Promise, and the 'Capturing Hope' tent embodies them all," said Elaine I. Grobman, Executive Director of the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate. "Certainly, they provide the stellar medical service that saves lives every day. But they also truly understand that healing the body goes hand-in-hand with empowering the spirit.
"At that moment when you hear those life-shattering words, 'I'm sorry, you have cancer,' you don't want medicine or surgery... you want a friend... a light to hold onto... someone who can be confident in your survival on those days when you can't be so sure. Cancer Treatment Centers is all these things, as, every day, they deliver hope throughout our community and beyond. We couldn't ask for a more dedicated, generous partner in our journey to a world without breast cancer."
