2010 Pink Tea Ball Gallery
Converted to a Victorian Tea Room for two days, the Jane Lopoten School of Dance embraced everyone in an atmosphere conducive to unity and giving - to the tune of $13,735 raised in a single weekend.
Dear friends and “sisters” in extraordinary breast cancer activism, Jane Lopoten (left) and Elaine I Grobman, Exec. Director of the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate celebrate the 3rd successful Pink Tea Ball.
The unique silent auction, always a Pink Tea Ball highlight, was embraced by dozens of local businesses who generously showed their support of empowering generations against breast cancer.
In addition to local businesses, local moms took to task, handcrafting special items for the silent auction as well as other prize giveaways for the event, held March 6-7.
The elegance and sophistication of the 2-day event permeated every element, especially the “heart of the matter” - embracing everyone in the power of community, importance of early activism and hope of a cure.
Visitors to the dance studio were reminded of the tradition Jane Lopoten’s students have become at the Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure—offering inspirational performances every Mother’s Day.
Jane’s son, Eric Lopoten, has “grown up” with Komen, supporting his mother’s activism, volunteering and living the notion that ending breast cancer is a family affair.
In October the talk starts about who’s going to wear what hat to the spring Pink Tea Ball. But this event isn’t really about fashion, it’s about generations uniting in a cause near and dear to all of our hearts.
Sloane Six (left), new co-Chairperson of the Komen Philadelphia Pink Tie Ball, and Elaine Grobman take "mental notes" on winning Pink Tea Ball fundraising ideas to use for the Pink tie Ball in October.
Now in it’s 3rd year, the Pink Tea Ball proved to be so popular, Lopoten expanded the event to two days to accommodate the overwhelming number of requests for tickets.

To supplement provisions from local caterers, Jane her “Pink Tea Moms” awake at dawn to make nearly 1,000 sandwiches for their guests.
In the two days of the event, close to 400 people turn out for an authentic tea, including “Tea Talk” and the finer points of etiquette for the elegant tradition.
Another highlight of the Pink Tea Ball, students of the Jane Lopoten School of Dance participate in a fashion show.
One of the few males in the class, Sklyar Clemens was in high demand for his arm… escorting the lovely young ladies in the fashion show.
